Heavenly Cinnamon Roll Breadtwists
🧈 Ingredients
Dough
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F / 43°C)
- 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- ¼ cup (55 g) unsalted butter, melted
- 3 ½ cups (420 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
Cinnamon Filling
- ½ cup (110 g) soft butter
- ½ cup (100 g) brown sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- Optional: 1 tbsp cream (makes it extra gooey)
Vanilla Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tbsp milk or cream
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
👩🍳 Instructions
1. Make the dough
- In a large bowl, mix warm milk + yeast + sugar. Let sit 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add egg, melted butter, and salt; mix well.
- Add flour gradually until a soft dough forms.
- Knead 5–7 minutes (or 3 minutes on medium in a mixer) until smooth.
- Cover and let rise 1 hour, or until doubled.
2. Prepare the filling
Mix soft butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and optional cream into a spreadable paste.
3. Roll out the dough
- Punch down dough and turn onto a floured surface.
- Roll into a large rectangle (about 12×18 inches / 30×45 cm).
- Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough.
4. Fold and cut
- Fold the dough in half lengthwise (like closing a book).
- Cut into 1-inch wide strips.
- Take each strip, twist several times, and place on a lined baking sheet.
5. Rise & Bake
- Cover twists and let rise 20–25 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 13–16 minutes until lightly golden.
6. Add the glaze
Whisk glaze ingredients until smooth.
Drizzle generously over warm breadtwists.
💡 Tips for PERFECTION
- Brush twists with melted butter right out of the oven for bakery shine.
- Add a smear of cream cheese glaze for an even richer taste.
- For extra gooey twists: add a thin layer of heavy cream over twists before baking.
