🧈 Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F / 43°C)
  • 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup (55 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 ½ cups (420 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt

Cinnamon Filling

  • ½ cup (110 g) soft butter
  • ½ cup (100 g) brown sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Optional: 1 tbsp cream (makes it extra gooey)

Vanilla Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tbsp milk or cream
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Make the dough

  1. In a large bowl, mix warm milk + yeast + sugar. Let sit 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add egg, melted butter, and salt; mix well.
  3. Add flour gradually until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead 5–7 minutes (or 3 minutes on medium in a mixer) until smooth.
  5. Cover and let rise 1 hour, or until doubled.

2. Prepare the filling

Mix soft butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and optional cream into a spreadable paste.


3. Roll out the dough

  1. Punch down dough and turn onto a floured surface.
  2. Roll into a large rectangle (about 12×18 inches / 30×45 cm).
  3. Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough.

4. Fold and cut

  1. Fold the dough in half lengthwise (like closing a book).
  2. Cut into 1-inch wide strips.
  3. Take each strip, twist several times, and place on a lined baking sheet.

5. Rise & Bake

  1. Cover twists and let rise 20–25 minutes.
  2. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 13–16 minutes until lightly golden.

6. Add the glaze

Whisk glaze ingredients until smooth.
Drizzle generously over warm breadtwists.


💡 Tips for PERFECTION

  • Brush twists with melted butter right out of the oven for bakery shine.
  • Add a smear of cream cheese glaze for an even richer taste.
  • For extra gooey twists: add a thin layer of heavy cream over twists before baking.
