Sizzling Chinese Pepper Steak

I will probably stop posting if there is no interaction on this post… but I had to share this recipe because it is simply too good to keep to myself! If you love bold flavors, sizzling aromas, and restaurant-style meals made right at home, then this Sizzling Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions is something you absolutely need to try.

This dish is one of those meals that fills the whole kitchen with an irresistible smell while it cooks. The tender slices of steak, the sweet caramelized onions, and the rich peppery sauce come together in the most incredible way. It’s quick, easy, and tastes like something you would order from your favorite Chinese restaurant — but even better because you made it yourself.

Ingredients:

• 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

• 2 tablespoons soy sauce

• 1 tablespoon oyster sauce

• 1 tablespoon cornstarch

• 1 tablespoon sesame oil

• 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

• 1 large onion, sliced

• 1 green bell pepper, sliced

• 1 red bell pepper, sliced

• 3 cloves garlic, minced

• 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

• 1 tablespoon brown sugar

• ½ cup beef broth

• ½ teaspoon black pepper (or more if you love that pepper kick)

• Salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well so the beef is fully coated. Let it marinate for about 10–15 minutes. This helps tenderize the meat and gives it deep flavor.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef in a single layer and cook for about 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add the remaining oil. Toss in the sliced onions and bell peppers. Stir-fry for about 3–4 minutes until they begin to soften but still keep a slight crunch.
  4. Add the garlic and ginger and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. This step fills the kitchen with the amazing aroma that makes everyone ask what you’re cooking.
  5. Pour in the beef broth and brown sugar, stirring to combine. Let the sauce simmer for about 2 minutes.
  6. Return the beef to the skillet and toss everything together. Cook another 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the steak and vegetables beautifully.
  7. Finish with sesame oil and a sprinkle of black pepper for that classic sizzling flavor.

Serve this delicious pepper steak hot over a bowl of steamed rice or noodles. The sauce soaks into the rice perfectly and every bite is packed with flavor.

If you love simple meals that taste like takeout but are made at home, this recipe will quickly become one of your favorites. It’s perfect for busy weeknights, family dinners, or when you want something comforting and satisfying.
