🍓 Strawberry Bombs (Soft Filled Donuts)
These Strawberry Bombs are soft, fluffy dough balls filled with sweet strawberry jam and coated in sugar. They’re perfect for dessert, breakfast, or a sweet snack!
Ingredients
- 300 g (2 cups) all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 45 g (¼ cup) sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 7 g dry yeast (1 packet)
- 140 ml (3/5 cup) warm milk
- 40 g (¼ cup) softened butter
For the Filling & Coating
- ½–¾ cup strawberry jam
- ½ cup sugar (for coating)
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Activate the yeast
In a small bowl, mix the warm milk, sugar, and dry yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until it becomes foamy. - Make the dough
In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the egg and the yeast mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms. - Add the butter
Add the softened butter and knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. - First rise
Cover the bowl with a towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size. - Shape the bombs
Punch down the dough and divide it into small balls (about 10–12 pieces). Place them on a tray, cover, and let them rest 15–20 minutes. - Fry
Heat oil in a deep pan to 170–175°C (340°F). Fry the dough balls in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown. - Coat in sugar
Remove from oil and roll them in sugar while still warm. - Fill with strawberry
Use a small knife or piping bag to make a hole and fill each bomb with strawberry jam.
✨ Tip: For extra flavor, mix a little vanilla sugar or powdered sugar with the coating. Serve warm for the best taste!
