🍋 Vanilla / Lemon Swiss Roll
Ingredients (Sponge)
- 4 large eggs
- ¾ cup sugar
- ¾ cup cake flour (or all-purpose, sifted)
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp lemon zest (optional)
- ¼ tsp salt
Filling
- 1½ cups heavy whipping cream
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C)
Line a 10×15 jelly roll pan with parchment - Beat eggs + sugar 5 minutes until thick and pale
- Fold in flour, salt, vanilla (and zest)
- Spread evenly in pan
- Bake 10–12 minutes (do not overbake)
- Turn out onto powdered-sugar towel, roll while warm
- Cool completely
- Whip cream + sugar + vanilla
- Unroll, fill, reroll
- Chill 1 hour
🍫 Chocolate Swiss Roll (Black Forest Style)
Ingredients (Sponge)
- 4 eggs
- ¾ cup sugar
- ½ cup flour
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla
Filling
- 1½ cups whipped cream
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
- Optional: chopped cherries
Topping
- Whipped cream
- Chocolate shavings
- Cherries
Instructions
Same method as vanilla, but fold cocoa with flour.
Decorate with whipped cream, chocolate curls, and cherries 🍒
