  • 1 egg

2. Make dough

  • Add egg, butter, salt, and flour
  • Mix until dough forms
  • Knead 8–10 minutes (or 5 minutes with mixer) until soft and elastic

3. First rise

  • Place dough in greased bowl
  • Cover and rise 1 hour until doubled

4. Shape

  • Punch down dough
  • Shape into a loaf
  • Place in greased 9×5 loaf pan

5. Second rise

  • Cover and rise 30–40 minutes

6. Bake

  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30–35 minutes
  • Top should be deep golden

7. Finish
