Christmas Party Cupcakes – Festive Lights, Santa Hats & Christmas Trees
(Use your favorite vanilla, chocolate, or box-mix cupcakes!)
🧁 Base Cupcakes (any flavor)
Ingredients
- 1 box vanilla or chocolate cake mix (or 12–16 homemade cupcakes)
- Ingredients listed on the box (usually eggs, oil, water)
Bake and let completely cool before decorating.
🌟 BUTTERCREAM FROSTING
(Enough for 24 cupcakes)
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk or heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
Beat butter → add sugar 1 cup at a time → add milk + vanilla until smooth.
Add food coloring as needed for each design.
🎄 DESIGN 1: Christmas Lights Cupcakes
What you need
- White frosting
- Mini M&M’s or mini chocolate candies
- Black gel icing (to draw the “light cord”)
How to decorate
- Frost cupcake with white buttercream.
- Use black gel icing to draw a squiggly “string light” line.
- Press mini M&M’s along the line like bulbs.
- Done — super cute & easy!
🎅 DESIGN 2: Santa Hat Cupcakes
What you need
- Red-colored buttercream
- Mini marshmallows
- White sprinkles or coconut (optional)
How to decorate
- Frost cupcake with a thin layer of white.
- Pipe a tall swirl of red frosting to form a Santa hat shape.
- Add mini marshmallow on top as the pom-pom.
- Optional: press white sprinkles around the base for the fluffy trim.
🌲 DESIGN 3: Christmas Tree Cupcakes
What you need
- Green buttercream
- Star sprinkles or yellow candy
- Mini M&M’s, sprinkles, or edible pearls
How to decorate
- Frost cupcake with a thin base layer.
- Using a star tip, pipe a tall swirl of thick green frosting like a tree.
- Add mini candies as ornaments.
- Place a yellow star on top.
- Dust lightly with powdered sugar for a “snowy tree.”
