Cream Cheese Cookies (Soft & Buttery)
⭐ Ingredients
For the Cookie Dough
- ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
- 4 oz (113g) cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
Optional add-ins:
- Powdered sugar for rolling
- Lemon zest, almond extract, or chocolate chips
🥣 Instructions
1. Prepare the Dough
- In a mixing bowl, beat butter + cream cheese together until smooth and creamy.
- Add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
- Add egg and vanilla, mix until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt.
- Add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.
2. Chill the Dough
- Cover the bowl and chill for 1 hour.
(This makes cookies thicker and softer.)
3. Shape and Bake
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Scoop or roll dough into 1-inch balls.
- Optional: roll each ball in powdered sugar.
- Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment.
- Bake 10–12 minutes, until edges are just set (not browned).
4. Cool and Serve
- Let cookies cool on the tray 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack.
- They will be very soft at first and firm up as they cool.
