Ingredients
For the Meatloaf:
- 1½ lb ground beef
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 eggs
- ½ cup milk
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
For the Mashed Potatoes:
- 2 lb potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 4 tbsp butter
- ½ cup warm milk or cream
- Salt and black pepper to taste
For the Gravy:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Meatloaf
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, eggs, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix gently until just combined.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf and place in a baking dish or loaf pan.
- Bake for 50–60 minutes, until fully cooked and nicely browned.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
Step 2: Make the Mashed Potatoes
- Boil potatoes in salted water for 15–20 minutes, until fork-tender.
- Drain well.
- Mash with butter and warm milk until smooth and creamy.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 3: Prepare the Gravy
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Whisk in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes.
- Gradually add beef broth while whisking continuously until smooth.
- Simmer until thickened.
- Season with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
Serving
Serve thick slices of meatloaf over creamy mashed potatoes and generously spoon warm gravy on top.
