Strawberry Bombs

🍓 Strawberry Bombs (Soft Filled Donuts)

These Strawberry Bombs are soft, fluffy dough balls filled with sweet strawberry jam and coated in sugar. They’re perfect for dessert, breakfast, or a sweet snack!

Ingredients

  • 300 g (2 cups) all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 45 g (¼ cup) sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 7 g dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 140 ml (3/5 cup) warm milk
  • 40 g (¼ cup) softened butter

For the Filling & Coating

  • ½–¾ cup strawberry jam
  • ½ cup sugar (for coating)
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast
In a small bowl, mix the warm milk, sugar, and dry yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
  2. Make the dough
In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the egg and the yeast mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Add the butter
Add the softened butter and knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. First rise
Cover the bowl with a towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Shape the bombs
Punch down the dough and divide it into small balls (about 10–12 pieces). Place them on a tray, cover, and let them rest 15–20 minutes.
  6. Fry
Heat oil in a deep pan to 170–175°C (340°F). Fry the dough balls in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  7. Coat in sugar
Remove from oil and roll them in sugar while still warm.
  8. Fill with strawberry
Use a small knife or piping bag to make a hole and fill each bomb with strawberry jam.

✨ Tip: For extra flavor, mix a little vanilla sugar or powdered sugar with the coating. Serve warm for the best taste!
