Creamy No-Bake Coffee Custard (Tiramisu-Style)
🧁 Ingredients
Custard Layer
- 2 cups whole milk
- 3 tbsp cornstarch
- ½ cup sugar
- 3 egg yolks
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp instant coffee (or espresso powder)
Cream Layer
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 3 tbsp powdered sugar
- ½ tsp vanilla
Base (optional but traditional)
- 6–8 ladyfingers or tea biscuits
- ½ cup strong coffee (cooled)
Topping
- Unsweetened cocoa powder
👩🍳 Instructions
1. Make the coffee custard
In a saucepan (heat OFF), whisk:
- milk
- sugar
- cornstarch
- egg yolks
- instant coffee
Turn heat to medium and stir constantly until thick and smooth (about 5–7 minutes).
Remove from heat → stir in butter and vanilla.
Let cool slightly.
2. Prepare the base
Quickly dip ladyfingers in coffee and place in the bottom of a glass dish
(or skip for a fully custard dessert).
3. Add custard
Pour warm custard over the base.
Smooth the top.
4. Make whipped cream
Beat cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form.
Spread evenly over the custard layer.
5. Chill
Refrigerate at least 4 hours (overnight is best).
6. Finish
Dust generously with cocoa powder before serving.
