Caramel French Toast Bites (Custardy Inside!)
🧁 Ingredients
- 1 package Hawaiian sweet rolls (or brioche/challah)
- 3 eggs
- ½ cup milk or heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- Pinch salt
🔥 Caramel Sauce
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup butter
- 2 tbsp maple syrup or honey
- ¼ cup water
Optional topping
- Powdered sugar
- Extra maple syrup
👩🍳 Instructions
1. Prep the bread
Cut rolls into bite-size cubes.
2. Make custard
Whisk together:
- eggs
- milk
- vanilla
- cinnamon
- salt
Toss bread cubes gently until soaked.
3. Make caramel
In a skillet over medium heat, melt:
- butter
- brown sugar
- maple syrup
- water
Simmer 2–3 minutes until glossy.
4. Cook the bites
Add soaked bread cubes directly into caramel sauce.
Cook 8–10 minutes, gently turning, until:
- golden brown
- crispy edges
- soft custardy centers
5. Serve
Dust with powdered sugar and drizzle more syrup if desired.
