Ingredients (Cookies)

  • ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup (100 g) white sugar
  • ½ cup (120 g) sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp lemon zest
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt

🍋 Ingredients (Lemon Glaze)

  • 1 cup (120 g) powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tbsp lemon juice (adjust for thickness)
  • Optional: Christmas sprinkles

1. Make the dough

  1. Beat butter + sugar until light and creamy.
  2. Add egg, sour cream/yogurt, lemon juice, lemon zest, vanilla — mix until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together:
    • flour
    • baking powder
    • baking soda
    • salt
  4. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix gently until just combined.
  5. Chill dough for 20–30 minutes (helps cookies stay thick and soft).

2. Bake

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Scoop dough using a tablespoon or cookie scoop onto a parchment-lined tray.
  3. Bake 10–12 minutes, just until the bottoms are lightly golden.
    • Cookies should remain pale and soft.

3. Glaze

  1. Mix powdered sugar + lemon juice until smooth.
  2. Dip the tops of cooled cookies or drizzle glaze over them.
  3. Add sprinkles for a Christmas touch.
