Snowball Cookies

Snowball Cookies (Classic Recipe)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup finely chopped nuts (traditionally pecans or walnuts)
  • Extra powdered sugar for rolling

🥣 Instructions

1. Make the Dough

  1. In a bowl, beat softened butter until creamy.
  2. Add powdered sugar and beat until fluffy.
  3. Mix in vanilla extract.
  4. Add flour + salt and mix until just combined.
  5. Stir in the chopped nuts.

The dough will be a little crumbly — this is normal.

2. Chill the Dough

  • Cover and refrigerate for 30–45 minutes so the cookies hold their shape.

3. Shape and Bake

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Scoop 1-tablespoon portions and roll into small balls.
  3. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Bake 12–14 minutes until the bottoms are lightly golden.

4. Coat in Sugar

  1. While cookies are still warm, roll them in powdered sugar.
  2. Let them cool, then roll them again for that perfect snowy look.
