Snowball Cookies (Classic Recipe)
⭐ Ingredients
- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 cup finely chopped nuts (traditionally pecans or walnuts)
- Extra powdered sugar for rolling
🥣 Instructions
1. Make the Dough
- In a bowl, beat softened butter until creamy.
- Add powdered sugar and beat until fluffy.
- Mix in vanilla extract.
- Add flour + salt and mix until just combined.
- Stir in the chopped nuts.
The dough will be a little crumbly — this is normal.
2. Chill the Dough
- Cover and refrigerate for 30–45 minutes so the cookies hold their shape.
3. Shape and Bake
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Scoop 1-tablespoon portions and roll into small balls.
- Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake 12–14 minutes until the bottoms are lightly golden.
4. Coat in Sugar
- While cookies are still warm, roll them in powdered sugar.
- Let them cool, then roll them again for that perfect snowy look.
