Cream Cheese Cookies (Soft & Buttery)

Ingredients

For the Cookie Dough

  • ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 oz (113g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt

Optional add-ins:

  • Powdered sugar for rolling
  • Lemon zest, almond extract, or chocolate chips

🥣 Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough

  1. In a mixing bowl, beat butter + cream cheese together until smooth and creamy.
  2. Add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
  3. Add egg and vanilla, mix until combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt.
  5. Add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.

2. Chill the Dough

  • Cover the bowl and chill for 1 hour.
    (This makes cookies thicker and softer.)

3. Shape and Bake

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Scoop or roll dough into 1-inch balls.
  3. Optional: roll each ball in powdered sugar.
  4. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment.
  5. Bake 10–12 minutes, until edges are just set (not browned).

4. Cool and Serve

  • Let cookies cool on the tray 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack.
  • They will be very soft at first and firm up as they cool.
